Privacy Policy
This privacy policy describes user data collection, handling, storage, and sharing for the AdBlock – Ad Blocker & Social Focus browser extension (the “Extension”). This policy applies to the Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium builds of the product.
User data collection
We collect only the information needed to provide ad blocking, optional Social Focus controls, accounts, and paid licenses. We do not collect your browsing history, website content, cookies from other sites, form data, passwords for other sites, payment card numbers, precise location, or government ID numbers.
Data processed only on your device (not sent to us)
- Page content and page URLs, used locally to detect and hide ads or apply Social Focus filters.
- Tab identifiers and on-device block counts, used to show “blocked on this page” in the popup.
- Your theme, language, on/off switch, and Social Focus site settings, stored in Chrome local storage.
- A random install identifier created on your device so a license can be bound to that install.
Data you choose to send to our servers
These items are collected only if you use the related feature:
- Account: Gmail address and password (the password is sent only to create or sign in; we store a salted hash, not the plain password).
- License: license key material needed to activate or verify Premium (we store a hash of the key, plan type, expiry, and install identifier).
- Settings sync (signed-in or licensed users): ad-blocking on/off, Social Focus preferences, theme, and a total blocked-ads counter.
- Password reset: your Gmail address and a short-lived reset code, so we can email the code to you.
- Support: whatever you send us if you contact Technical Support on WhatsApp.
If you never create an account, never activate a license, and never contact support, we do not receive personal information from the Extension. Local preferences stay on your device.
Permissions and why they exist
- declarativeNetRequest: block requests to known ad and tracker hosts. This does not send those request details to our servers.
- storage: save your preferences and license/account state on the device.
- tabs: reload YouTube or Facebook when blocking settings change, and show per-tab block counts. Tab URLs are not uploaded to us.
- alarms: periodically refresh license/session state and synced settings.
- Host access (all sites): run local content scripts so ads can be hidden on pages you visit. Website content is handled on-device only.
User data handling
We handle collected data only to operate the product:
- Provide and toggle ad blocking and Social Focus.
- Create and authenticate optional accounts.
- Activate, verify, and enforce Premium licenses (including a two-device limit).
- Sync the settings listed above between devices when you are signed in or licensed.
- Send a password-reset code to the Gmail address on the account.
- Respond to support requests you initiate.
We do not use website content, browsing activity, or account data to profile you for advertising, to train unrelated models, or for any purpose other than the functions above. Website content and browsing activity are handled locally in the browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
Payment for Premium is arranged through the support channel you use to buy a key. We do not collect or store payment card numbers inside the Extension.
User data storage
On your device
Preferences, block counters, theme, language, session token, hashed license state, and the
random install identifier are stored with chrome.storage.local on your computer.
YouTube blocking also mirrors an on/off flag in that site’s localStorage so the
page script can read it immediately. Uninstalling the Extension deletes this on-device data.
On our servers
Account records, license hashes, install identifiers, synced settings, session tokens, and short-lived password-reset hashes are stored in Cloudflare Workers KV, operated by Cloudflare, Inc. Servers are used only for accounts, licenses, and settings sync.
- Session tokens expire after 90 days of inactivity or when you log out.
- Password-reset codes expire after 15 minutes.
- License and account records are kept while the account or license remains in use, and are deleted when you request deletion or when we no longer need them to provide the service.
- We do not store browsing history, visited URLs, or page contents on our servers.
User data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal or sensitive user data. We do not share browsing history, website content, or account credentials with advertisers or data brokers.
We share data only as follows:
- Cloudflare: infrastructure provider that hosts the license/account worker and KV storage. They process data as our processor to run that service.
- Email delivery: if you request a password reset, your Gmail address and the reset message are sent through the email sending service configured on our worker, solely to deliver that code.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process, or to protect the security of users or the service.
- Business transfer: if the product is transferred, user data related to accounts and licenses may transfer with it under this policy.
Chrome, Google, and your device vendor receive whatever data their platforms collect under their own policies when you install software from the Chrome Web Store. We do not receive your Google account from Chrome as part of a normal install.
We do not share user data with third parties for their own marketing. We do not use remote analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs in the Extension.
Your choices and deletion
- You can use ad blocking without creating an account.
- You can log out, turn blocking off, or uninstall at any time.
- To delete server-side account or license records, contact us using the details below and tell us the Gmail address on the account. We will delete that data unless we must keep a limited record to prevent fraud or meet a legal duty.
Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
If you create an account, your account data is processed on Cloudflare’s network, which may be located outside your country. By creating an account you understand that this transfer is required to provide the service.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after an update means the new policy applies to later use.
